Policies & “Before You Book” Requirements
Before you book your kayak rental, there are some policies and requirements you need to be aware of. You must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by a parent or guardian or 16 years old without accompaniment. A photo ID is required upon arrival, and all participants must complete and sign a liability waiver. If you are under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the waiver. Our cancellation policy states that all reservations require a non-refundable prepaid deposit at the time of booking, and reservations can be canceled without penalty no later than 24 hours prior to the booked time. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, no-shows, and failure to comply with the mandatory rental requirements will forfeit the prepaid deposit and will not be rescheduled.

We tried to rent from another kayak rental shop in the area and they told us because of the weather (40 percent chance of rain) they did not rent out. The chance of rain was not even until one pm and this was at 9am. So we called Idle Speed because it was actually next to where we were staying and they told us to come on over. The woman that my boyfriend spoke to was super friendly. The two males that got the kayaks out for us were as well. They even offered to bring us out water and snacks if we needed it. We rented for four hours. Being able to kayak in the channel was amazing! We ended up seeing dolphins swimming and playing. Definitely recommend this place! We will be back next summer!

Idle Speed Watersports is the perfect spot to rent your kayaks or jet skis and even go parasailing. I had a great time jet skiing with a very knowledgeable tour guide name Luke. He took the time to take action pictures and videos. We took a break on a island just up the coast. It had an amazing scenery. I will definitely come back next time I come visit! Thanks to the team for a great experience.

It is also recommended to take a kayaking safety course to learn proper paddling techniques and rescue procedures. Additionally, it is important to be aware of your surroundings, avoid strong currents or hazardous areas, and to paddle within your skill level. With these precautions in mind, kayaking can be a great way to explore the water and enjoy the outdoors in a safe manner.
How Long Does a Kayak Rental Last?
We rent by the hour. If you need more than an hour, you can book more than one hour at a time, and if you want to extend once you’re out on the water, let us know. Whenever possible, we want to accommodate guests’ desire to extend their rental!
What Is the Cancellation Policy?
Our cancellation policy states that cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to the reservation time will incur a 100% charge. In the event of inclement weather or water conditions that prevent you from participating, you may be moved to a different location or rescheduled.
What Should I Bring?
Please be sure you bring your Photo ID! Please keep in mind that to solo-rent a kayak, you must be at least 16, but minors as young as five can ride a tandem kayak with their guardian.
